Anyone else having PA-built airplanes having regulator issues? This is the second time my dad has been stranded due to the regulator for the electrical system failing. Dad's is a "certified" model built 5 years ago (number 8 off the line) and he was stranded 5 days in Canada on his was back to Alaska the first time and now after leaving his island in Alaska, complete electrical failure forced him to land on Lake Wasilla. Is the system not heavy-duty enough to handle the EFIS and foot heaters?

Jim, if I were flying as far out in the boonies as your dad, I'd carry a new regulator as a spare, along with a tire patch kit, a few Bimini top fittings, and the duct tape.
