Q: Which amphibian homebuilt uses a basketball in the nose as a bumper?
A: The Avid "Catalina".
The Catalina (previously known as the Avid Amphibian) was produced as a kit until the company folded in 2003. The kit included a deflated Wilson basketball that was inserted and inflated in the nose, to serve as a bumper.
When I posted this poll, I wanted to inable "View Poll Results" until after voting, but could not see that option. Also, since I cannot see a way to close the poll, I have deleted it and copied the results here:
