Looks like fun trip Paul. The Pamunkey and Mattaponi Rivers that you flew over are good for some Searey fun.

Isn't fun to fly up the East Coast! Next time you need gas near the VA-NC border drop into Suffolk County (KSFQ). It has 91 octane Self serve and the lunch place is not bad. Here is a Google Map of great place to gas-eat-fly on the East Coast https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zntiwejeLt8Q.kpKPlMpW6dBw&usp=sharing

Robert, that IS a great map! I wish I had all that info on my trip. It was a little unnerving searching AirNav, fltplan, etc for 91 octane. I did have some great stops, though.

You are welcome. The map is a team effort from all the SeaRey on the East Coast who have shared their finds. So feel free to contribute.

Hey Rob, excellent map. The airport in Reigle Field, appears to have the ID backwards. I believe it should be 58N, not N58. I didn't see a way for me to change it, so I thought I'd pass it on. Thanks again, Peter

Peter, you're right. I fixed it. (If you click on a marker like that one, you should see a pop-up menu, with Edit as one of the choices.)
By the way, you can rent a car there from Enterprise and have it delivered to the field. But that's probably true of most airfields, so I didn't add it to Reigle.

Please, please, please put your SeaRey-friendly spots on Wiki-SeaRey or Places. Rob can add them to his map. One of the three should be the world-wide SeaRey reference.
Don't make me beg!

I'm glad you had such a good trip, Paul. (And 101 knots is a pretty good groundspeed for the Virginia flatland.)

Good post Paul.
One question: the photo at Lakeside Inn, Mt. Dora, are your beached on the property of Lakeside? I've flow around there and not seen any nice area to beach.

Frank, Bruce summed it up well; thanks Bruce! The Lakeside Inn is a historic place and as they've never complained about us parking there, they have indicated that they would like us to be vigilant of their guest that may be in or near the water. Once, we were pulling in to just use the facilities and they were about to have a photo shoot for a wedding. They were polite about asking that we not takeoff during the wedding ceremony! The restaurant is great, but have not had an opportunity to stay in the Inn. Additionally, there are a couple of sections of the dock where the pilings are low so you can pull the 'Rey up to the dock. It's not the best way to get in & out of but you could if the winds & seas are calm. I'll add an additional picture.

I have stayed there numerous times. You can Beach it or drive up on the beach. The only caution is beware of blowing sand when departing.

I've been to Tavaras a few times but never saw the Inn or it's beach. So I've now printed out an AirNav chart that shows the location you've described. Now on my list as soon as I'm back in the air! Thanks for the tip!

The pictured beach is directly in front (west) of the Inn and belongs to it. The dock to the left is readily seen from the air as it ends in a unique octagon shape. Breakfast or lunch on the Inn's veranda overlooking lake after a SeaRey flight is a fun trip. Food and service have been good on a half-dozen visits over the last few years.
