September's first evening on Georgian Bay was warm and hazy.
Dennis Vogan and I set out before 7 pm and got back to Midland after 8.
So all these photos are warmed by the setting sun and cooled by the mist, a bit surreal for sure..
A splash and stop at the Giant's Tomb Island where a quiet swim was refreshing

We then set out to find Keven D'Angelo's Gaggle Rocks, stopping for a SeaDoo guy we thought in trouble (he was fishing!) I failed to find the spot.. I don't know how many splashes we did but after Kelk Cottage, Bone Island, and Beausoleil, we finally headed home, chased by a sinking sun.

Really put the spotlight on your missing boom tube cover, Dennis!

I especially like the composition of this bottom photo, John. The shot just above it, with the tail across the sun, is more dramatic, but the bottom one seems more "Searey" because it shows the airplane going for the water--suggests a story--and Dennis's position light seems to reinforce the low, red sun and call further attention to the time of day. Also, the sun and the airplane are balanced masses on opposite sides of the frame, and the airplane seems to have the sun as its destination. Or something like that. It definitely seems an evening sun, even if you don't know for sure.

The spotlight on the missing boom cover makes the SR look lots more fragile.

John, you really do have the best water in the continent. (Cold, though, eh?)

You and Dan! You guys should know better.
(cold, though, nay!) The water temperatures were cool but pleasant enough (and much warmer than the Carolinas.) Air temperature was still in the muggy 80's after 8pm..

beautiful area and great pictures. Thanks for sharing. I was at Duane Hunts place in Napanee for Canada Day and we flew down
to the big lake and then west about 20 miles. Scenery is spectacular.

    Great shots John!
We're sure not going to have many more nights like that!
