Date Posted: Nov 19, 2007 Description: Diego told me about a program Mexico has for first time home ownership. There is a huge payroll tax that is collected for building subsidized homes. These houses, called “in firsts,” are mass produced by the government. Qualified citizens can buy them for $20,000 and pay for it over 20 years. 50,000 units were built in Monterrey this year. Next year they plan to build 80,000. Diego’s company supplies the prefabricated concrete roofs. There is no building bust in Monterrey!
