Description: By the time I crawled into Randy’s home base at Berrien Springs the last student pilot was putting their C172 away from the night. The pilot’s lounge was closed. A check of the airport guide showed a hotel “one mile” away. I secured the airplane, grabbed my duffle bag, and started trudging down the road.

In just a few minutes an instructor (still in uniform) saw the sorry sight, took pity, and picked me up in his 1983 rusty rambler. I was happy for the ride even if the hotel turned out to be a Hotel 4-1/2.

Who can complain when the morrow is bright with the prospects of clear blue waters on Georgian Bay?

Randy's new ride would have looked even better tied up on the beach at Silver Lake, and he would have been a happier camper.

We all missed you, too, Dan. Jeez, we waited around all week--had nothing to do to pass the time but dash and splash all over Georgian Bay. Tsk. What tedium!
