Ha. Well, there have been a lot of military base name changes lately. For example, the army base nearest us has changed from Fort Lee to Fort Gregg-Adams.
That's Robert E. "Bobby" Lee, whom many southerners still call a hero and many northerners think of as a traitor.
And, as NPR reported it on 28 April, Gregg and Adams are "the late Lieutenant Colonel Charity Adams, the first Black officer in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps, and Lieutenant General Arthur Gregg, the Army's first Black three-star general. At a ceremony yesterday, Gregg, who's 94, said he hopes the base's new name will instill pride in every soldier entering our mighty gates."
