Any intel on companies writing Searey insurance? Specialty for senior aviators😏

George, Searey insurance does seem to be harder to get and may be more expensive when the pilot is over 70 and even harder over 80. However, it IS available. Part of the problem is that more can go wrong in seaplanes than landplanes. And it seems that the Icon accident record has made many insurers nervous.

You'll find a lot more info about insurance over on STS. You can search there for previous discussions--or just post a new News item.

I've used Falcon as my broker for 19 years. They shop around for you but it's still $700+ for Sammie with no hull coverage. 70 years old and 1100 Searey hours.

George, I began with Falcon. Reaching 75 they doubled my premiums. At 80 they said they would not insure me if I flew
solo. Shopped some and went with Avemco but they'd only sell me Liability to cover me, not even a passenger. In effect
that means I cannot take a passenger for fear of jeopardizing my Estate. So at 81 I'm solo.

BTW I think it was Avemco that told me if it was not a SeaRey (amphibian with retractable gear making it complex in their
view) they would insure me; for example a C-172 or equal. Didn't get a quote since I'm down to only my SR.
