I guess not too friendly to Seareys.

Explore the nooks and crannies of Webb Lake for a good spot to cast a line or enjoy the many wading birds along its
shores. Three boat ramps provide access for canoes, kayaks and boats; gasoline-powered motors are not allowed.

All we need is a solar / electric powered Searey

I was thinking the same thing, Jeff. Has anyone addressed this ?? Electric- 2 moving parts vs. 2,500.

Any response should probably go under the Tech site so we can follow the progress.

In 2011, Dale Kramer's Lazair amphib flew with electric power: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YINO0aoSAGg

Dale Kramer's electric Lazair homepage: http://lazairinfo.com/electric-lazair/

I was privileged to fly this Lazair with gasoline engines in 2005. (Heh--I logged 1.5 hours of solo MES time.) The early electric version in this video appears to have a longer takeoff run; but otherwise seems to fly similarly--a lot like a Searey, only about half the speed. It was great fun. There's a series of 4 posts about that experience, beginning at http://searey.us/splash/?Photos&p=SZXI70000 Just click on the that page's ""Previous"" link to get to the other 3 installments.

(Those three links all work, by the way.)
