Description: I, wife Suzanne and another SeaRey driver with friend flew to the
Harborside restaurant on Lake Shipp near Winter Haven, FL. After a
surprisingly good dinner (for a waterfront establishment), we
departed with the sun just above the horizon. That allowed us to
watch the sunset returning home when this pix was taken. Despite a
fully clear night, no green flash occurred.

Lovely lighting there, Bruce. And you were lucky to get the strobe flashing, too.

I happily removed the tailwheel retraction mechanisms more than a year ago. Also changed to a dual fork Matco tailwheel assembly.
Result: less complexity and weight with practically no change in performance.

Really good photo. What's with waterfront restaurants? Love 'em all, regardless of food.

My tailwheel failed on a bumpy water landing the other day and it is now shackled in the down position, after beach
repairs for a broken cable. Did you find any difference in water landing, takeoff, or taxing ops with the tailwheel down?
It seems like it could serve as a water rudder.

Thanks,

Mike Kincaid

Mike, there's lots of discussion about tailwheels lashed in the extended position over on STS. Here's one example:      Attachments:
