This is the same inland waterway (Pine Island Sound) that was dark brown from the Lake O discharges. Today, it had a Bahamian quality,

Just the way it should be, Jeff. Now if the politicians can get together to fix the drainage mess at Lake O you can have this all the time.

Interesting photos, Wayne. It must be something like the death throes of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, which are slowly filling up with silt from countless housing projects and farms--not to mention unpleasant runoff from countless washing machines, industries, and livestock farms. There's been some progress in the past few decades, but it's been slow going. Sadly, the new head of the EPA seems intent on revoking all government controls and let us go on mucking it up, while denying that sea level is rising. I hope Lake O fares better.

Just a little further north, Cayo Costa, you can land in the water and taxi up on the south tip of the beach. Done it several times.

Jim, was that you leaving Venice when our flight of three was coming in for lunch? (Saturday). We originally were going to land at Albert Whitted in St. Pete, but when I called the tower 7 miles out they said the Cafe was closed due to the St. Pete Grand Prix. We did a 180 ,flew over the Skyway Bridge, and enjoyed Tony's cooking at the Venice Airport Cafe.
