    Lake Hickory Splash-In link:

(For some reason, it's impossible to add the link to Dennis's original post; but it works in replies.)

Who is going to Lake Hickory?

I plan to. 20 whole minutes away. ET said Saturday will be the best day. Shannon said the shoreline is rocky but the city of Hickory promised to have a temporary ramp installed.

Looks like I'll be in VA tending to my ailing mom this weekend. Mom trumps splash-in. I may get up there before it's over but that looks doubtful right now.

Wishing you the best with your Mom, Dennis. Completely understand.

We'll probably go if we're in the U.S. then.

That's 250 miles for you, Don. That's a pretty long Searey trip. Would you like to RON at Claytor Lake and we could fly to Hickory together?

Aw, it's only 222 NM, Jeff--but I might take you up on that kind invitation. Our situation is complicated, though, but I hope to know within a week or so. Right now I'm bummed by the forecast for tomorrow's Lake Gaston splash-in: IFR here until past noon. That one is only about 55 nm from here and about 140 for you.
