Yes John, really! It happened during step taxi and here is the video. As you are watching for the first time, see when you identify the pending collision. When it happened, I did not see the branch comming until about 2 seconds before impact. Now I look at it and wonder how I could have been so blind. Stupid stupid stupid.

I probably saw the branch early because I was looking for it and you may have been focussed on the swing around the bend to the left..<br />Boy you certainly could hear the impact! Was there any other damage?

Outside of a couple of scratches on the leading edge, no other damage. The right nav / strobe got trashed, however. $180 in stupid tax.<br /><br />I think most of the noise was 'leaf effect'

Jeff, that reminds me of Russ Garner's attack tree that leaned over and smacked my left wingtip as I was taxiing up on his lawn--except that your tree just about went through the prop.

Did you use that powerline you skimmed as a reference for the glassy water landing? (just kidding )

Jeff, did you actually land there? Every time I play the video it ends while you're still several feet in the air. How much clearance did you have between the trees?

Don, here is a longer clip showing touch down and step taxi around the first turn.<br /><br />'How much clearance?' - enough.

Thanks, Jeff. Nice landing. I may skip that river--I mean, why bother, now that it's been done.

Wow, nice video, I don't think I would be taking that last river turn. Did I see some fish jumping or what was that big splash?

Jeff....Hey.... at first I tough that it was a video trick, but wow... you probably made a compound on your wings tips...<br />Very impressive, but for me it would be too too soon to even think to do this.<br /><br />And Tom I search in the dictionary the meanning of river flying, they say that River flying is dedicated to Tom and Jeff....<br /><br />Like you said you done it once, and once was enough....

Jeff,Impressive video since this is outtamy league! Sorry about your nav light. One question tho, do you have a Garmin 250/300XL in your panel, and if so, is the display readable in sunlight as it appears to be???Frank<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or > missing in user HTML. Yes, Frank, it is a 250XL and is readable in the daylight. I do have a problem with it however. It has some vertical lines in the display which do not go away. I am sure that money coud make them go away, but I have not pursued that.

Back to Garmin it goes then Jeff. If mine had vertical lines in the display, I wouldn't be able to see them just as I can't see frequencies or airports--except with the hanger door closed! I guess my backlight is OTS.<!-- >'"><br><font color=red size=6>' or > missing in user HTML. Please fix the HTML.</font> -->

I just got mine back from Garmin. $450.00 and they fix just about any problem. Even if it is a $10.00 problem. ouch!
